Plans Filed To Demolish Concord Mall & Construct New Retail Builiding

The End of an Era? Delaware’s Historic Concord Mall May Be Slated for Massive Demolition and Retail Rebirth

A massive shift is coming to the Brandywine Hundred retail landscape. A newly filed land development application with New Castle County reveals plans to completely demolish the 846,896-square-foot Concord Mall.

The active project application (Project #20260557), officially received on July 29, 2026, outlines an ambitious redevelopment strategy for the site located at 4735 Concord Pike. According to the filing, developers intend to clear the existing mall structure to pave the way for a brand-new, 233,100-square-foot general retail building alongside associated infrastructure improvements.

Concord Mall has been a community staple for decades. New York-based Namdar Realty Group purchased the property in February 2020 from Allied Retail Properties. Following years of changing retail trends, this new exploratory plan marks the first major step toward a total property reinvention.

The project is currently listed in its "Active" exploratory phase. Initial steps are underway, including minor exploratory sketch plan reviews and engineering meetings. While the review statuses are currently marked as incomplete, the paperwork signals a definitive and historic transition for this iconic Wilmington retail hub.
